Treasurer Wade gave his Treasures report and also talked about switching banks for a better percentage rate. Old Business: Talked about membership dues to be paid in December. Talked about other groups dues. Talked about next meeting which will be held November 14, 2003 that is the Friday before Fort Wayne's hamfest which is the 15 and 16. New Business: Bill showed everyone a flyer about the reasonable computer place on College Ave. also showed us a flyer on a company called Sage which is a new telephone company offering new cheaper rates. Chuck Crist told us about the amateur of the year in the Indianapolis Radio Club and he would like to go back at least 20 years or so, well at least when it first was started which was in 1968 to present date. Chuck also asked if anyone has any old newsletters please bring them in so we can start an archive on the Indianapolis Radio Club and try to keep good records since we are the oldest Amateur Radio Club still in existence in the United States and still having meetings. We had a motion about the 2 meter antenna on the roof which is a Ranger, which we are using now as a vertical antenna which has 50 watts 13 out on top swr 2.5 to 1, we voted to replace the old antenna and pay Tom Chance $60.00 for the GP3 which is on the 442.85 antenna that Tom has and move it to the 2 meter. Don Hemenover has renewed our club license since it was expired, so the license is good from Sept. 2003 till Sept. 2013. Remember that this is the month for elections of officers. At 8 p.m. the meeting was turned over to our guest speaker Rich Meiss WB9LPU. He talked to us and showed us many different keyers that have been used in Telegraphing to the conversion to amateur radio keyers. The 1st keyer was in 1841. Rich told us that the keyers were called Bugs and that they have a bug on them. He brought lots of different keyers that were original and lots that he made himself, because this is his hobby. He showed us J38, J47 tank keyer which is explosion proof, sub keyer, polish keyers from behind the iron curtain, soviet keyers from the Ukraine. He had a Marconi sparta keyer, something like they used on the Titanic, if anyone is interested in the keyer and their origin you can contact WB9LPU and he does make different keyers that he sells also. Meeting was adjourned at 9pm. Remember Ft. Wayne hamfest is November 15 & 16 and also Evansville hamfest is November 29th. Remember everyone the elections is this month at the monthly meeting.
